Some people make it because they work harder than others, however, one should understand that there is a fine line between harder work and over work. When working towards our goals Understanding when one already approached a tipping point or call it a cross road, between achieving and overdoing is very much overlooked by most of is, as it requires certain mindset and clarity.
How do we know when we are on the way to achieving our goal or we passed thy point and goal is way behind? What are the questions we should seek answer to? When is a good time to reflect ? Where can we learn ?
Let me ask you the specific question:
Let's say you are set to run a marathon 40K. That’s your goal 40K. 🏃♀️🏃🏃♂️
“Across the board, most people finish a marathon in 4 to 5 hours, with an average mile time of 9 to 11.5 minutes. A finishing time that's under 4 hours is a real accomplishment for everyone other than elite runners, who can finish in around 2 hours.”
Q: What is a most important strategy to win a marathon?
A: "Pace. The best way to run your fastest possible race is by starting out at the pace you can maintain the entire race. So run the first mile at the pace you expect to average for the whole marathon. You can't put running time in the bank".
Q: And what makes a successful runner?
A: “A good marathon runner reflects on what is working and what is not working for them. They are constantly assessing how they have improved, what has held them back, what workouts they could have done better, what training runs really helped them progress”
So now, assuming you are not an elite runner but you want to achieve same results 40 K in 2 hours:) What will be your strategy to goal setting?
You can pick one of the options here or give your option and leave your comment:
You will start with a goal 40k in 5 hours and start running
You will start with a goal 40K under 4 hour and start running
You will start with a Goal 40K in 2 Hours and start running
Choose your goal wisely as you will need to Work hard and push yourself to your full potential while respecting your limitations.
Yes, we all have limitations that we need to admit and only after we can adjust our goals and alter the intensity of work.
Question here is whether we are familiar with our limitations and actually admit them and know how to work with them so we can achieve our goals or we are struggling to jump over our head?
Bottom line here is that no matter how hard you work if your goal is too much for your existing limitations you want be able to achieve desired outcome, you will constantly feel overworked and overwhelmed, and will have false sense that you are moving towards your goal, when in reality you are moving away from it.
Adjust your goals to your limitations alter the intensity, one goal at a time as one step at a time.
